Have you been looking for a special rosary-- a gift for someone you love or for yourself? The rosaries I make are unique, containing a combination of aves and paters, which can be replicated but not duplicated. Rosaries have a long and varied history within and apart from Christianity. As rosary production moved from handmade to mass production, the individuality and beauty seemed to disappear from these items. Heirloom quality and beauty was lost. The rosaries I have created follow standard, modern patterns, which developed over the centuries within the Christian church. I have used genuine semi-precious gemstones, pearls, artist-made paters or unique pater materials to attempt to re-create this beauty and quality not found in modern, mass-produced rosaries. I use only genuine semi-precious gemstones and grade A pearls for the aves. Paters are generally handmade lampwork beads by artists, although I occasionally use bone, cinnebar, or another type of bead. The wire used is sterling silver or gold-filled wire, and the centers (or center pater in the case of one decades or chaplets) and the crosses are wire-wrapped to ensure durability throughout the years. Centers and crucifix sets, as well as crosses are sterling silver, pewter, or gold-plated brass. All materials for each particular rosary are described within the item description. |
